Finally caught up again with the "daily" blog posts. I hope you are enjoying my 365 adventure!
After one of several exceptionally heavy downpours, the sun came out while the rain still drizzled. Went out looking for the rainbow, just barely visible here.
Processed in Instagram with the LoFi filter.
Peace to all!

Friday posted on Saturday!
The mesquite in front of my casita has just lost its leaves; they form a thick carpet on the ground beneath.
Laptop is put away so no LR on this. Applied Flickr filter Wallaby to give it a vintage feel.
Peace to all.

The sunrise this morning was quite beautiful, so I grabbed the camera and took 4 pics using the camera's stitch setting. I tried using the camera's stitch software, but the connections were just too ugly. So, I installed a new (to me) script in GIMP that assists in stitching -called Pandora- more work than the camera's software, but a much better result. I then applied the Retinex filter giving the image an other-worldly look.
No enhancements in LR today.
Click through to see the unfiltered version in the first comment.
Peace to all.

I went to exercise class, then found this VERY GREEN wall. I found the sign intriguing; at least they are flashing phones, not...well you know.
In LR, auto tone and sharpening.
As I write this, I'm feeling very tired and can't wait to get to bed tonight.
Happy Wall Wednesday!

Wish I could have gotten closer so the thief would be easier to see. Can you see he has a berry in his beak? At least he appears to be "behind bars". ;-)
In LR lowered the vibrance and sharpened slightly.
Peace to all!

Took a lot of pics today, this was my favorite.
Had a fun day today - first went to the Tucson Botanical Gardens and went to the Butterfly Magic exhibit - always wonderful. This blue morpho was just hanging out on the window. I love how the light appears to be shining through its wings.
Later I walked a short way on the Pima Canyon trail but as the sun was close to setting, I didn't go far - will do so on another day.
Used auto tone, crop, sharpen, and vignette in LR.
Peace to all!

Something different for me! While walking just before sunset, the camera was swinging with my arm. I decided to try turning it on and pressing the shutter while continuing on my journey. This is the result. Please let me know what you think.
In LR modified a few things - auto white balance, auto tone in QD. Adj. brush to darken foreground and lighten flares. A few other minor tweaks.
Happy weekend ahead!
These dolls belonged to my sister and me when we were kids. They are the same except for the print of their skirts and babushkas. The one on the left was obviously Sue's since her name is on the foot!
All updates done in LR including fixing WB, HSL, cropping, and used a brush on their faces (new for me today), slight white vignette, sharpened. The graininess seems perfect for this subject.
Peace and hugs to all,

Mesquite tree and prickly pear cactus. This is the 4th day in a row that temps dropped into the 20s here in Tucson. The last time this happened, so the weather peeps say, was in 1988. Daytime temps have only been in the 40s, but expected to reach 70s by Thursday.
In GIMP, dodged the foreground a bit. Then in LR, applied same treatment as day 8 Saguaro.
Peace to all.
These old keys were found in a small drawer of the writing desk I inherited from my parents. Not sure what they were for, they do not fit the desk. I just love that they have heart shapes cut in them.
Edited in GIMP to remove background, up the red tone, and change the canvas size. In LR played with HSL to increase red/orange/etc. until I liked it.
Ready for St. Valentine's Day.
Peace to all!

Lamp and reflection, light and shadow, stucco wall and smooth window - so many contrasts.
Manually fixed HSL and other things in LR, including sharpness and crop.
Not Wednesday, but a wall just the same. Will keep it in mind for the group this week.
Happiness and peace to all!

And now for something completely different...
Solar light fixture in my neighbor's front yard. I ended up spending a lot of time separating this from the background as the color of the light and the gravel below are quite similar - but worth it, I think. After much clean-up of the edges (I know it's not perfect!) I used the National Geographic filter in The GIMP as the final editing step.
Only thing today in LR are the keywords and watermark.
Peace to all, Judi
Looking east to what I believe are the Catalina Mountains, saw this view on a late afternoon walk today. The mountain on the left is snow-capped below those clouds.
Two images stitched together with camera software, the stitching healed in GIMP. In LR, auto tone applied, HSL adjustments, vignetting.
The temps are expected to drop to around 24F tonight and may do so for the next several nights. Bundle up Tucsonans!

This is the 10th day of making a photo a day.
Been working on this project over a rather long elapsed time. When my elbow acted up, I couldn't knit for quite a while. Then as it got better, I could only do a couple of rows at a time. Elbow is doing much better so hoping to finish the scarf soon.
1. So I can give it to Wendy.
2. Before winter is over.
3. Because so many other projects await!
Processed first in GIMP, then in LR just some minor hue tweak of table.

This rosemary was so fragrant basking in the sun next to this wall. Found this at the financial office where I had an early PM appointment.
When I got back home, it was in the 70s, so I sat out reading this afternoon in sleeveless top for an hour or so. Then on to exercise class.
Lomo filter applied in GIMP. Nothing changed in LR except the resolution and copyright.
Happy Wall Wednesday!

"Scene near local branch of the library, a very old saguaro cactus.
LR - b&w, auto WB, auto tone, no crop, adjusted histogram, then a preset, and finally B&W auto."
May you live long, just as this saguaro has.

At St. Philip's Plaza, lots of tempting goodies. Bought romaine, tomatoes, nuts, and chocolate.
This is 3 images stitched together in a Canon utility - Photo Stitch.
Color was rather drab, so punched it up a bit in LR manually and with a preset. It was an overcast day so this is as good as it gets this time.
15 minutes to Downton Abbey Season 3 here!

The Jazzercise instructors from around town opened the Beyond event today. Mary (the owner) and Susie, who are furthest right, are instructors at the Central Jazzercise facility on Ft. Lowell. Come on out to a class!
Please see www.beyond-tucson.org for details of today's event.
In summary, the family of Gabe Zimmerman, who was killed in the 2011 shooting here in Tucson, began this event to help the town get beyond that and onto something healthy and community building.
A grand time was had by all!

Working the crossword puzzle in the Tucson Weekly.
I never left the house today, but worked on this puzzle a bit.
All manual updates to this image, no presets used.
Cropped, lightened, changed Sat and Lum, sharpened, added vignette, then watermark on export.
I may be running out of LR editing changes I can make that are "new" to me.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend filled with joy and peace.

Met Wendy for dinner at Blue Willow on Campbell; a nice meal, a lovely visit, and great conversation.
I am so happy and grateful we live close to each other now!

Macro shot of the wall that surrounds my back yard here in Tucson, AZ.
All processing performed in LR 3.6
- Upped Sat & Lum of red
- Applied General Punch preset
- Exported small image with watermark
Hooray, second day of learning new things in LR!
Happy Wall Wednesday everyone!

In 2008 I started a 365 project, but didn't finish.
In 2010 I completed a 365 project.
Now it's 2013 and I've decided to do it once again.
My goal for January is to learn as much about Lightroom as I can since I have owned it for quite a while but have done little with it.
Cropped, some spot removal, B&W preset applied, two vignettes applied - all in LR 3.6.
The final resize and watermark applied in The GIMP. Another day I'll work on doing it all in LR.
Please wish me luck on my 2013 365 journey!
Happy New Year one and all!
May your life be filled with peace.
