Angels Everywhere

Got this in an e-mail the other day and just had to share it with everyone:

Twinkies and Root Beer

A little boy wanted to meet God. He knew it was a long trip to where God lived, so he packed his suitcase with Twinkies and a six-pack of Root Beer and he started his journey.

When he had gone about three blocks, he met an elderly man. The man was sitting in the park just feeding some pigeons.
The boy sat down next to him and opened his suitcase. He was about to take a drink from his root beer when he noticed that the man looked hungry, so he offered him a Twinkie.

The man gratefully accepted it and smiled at boy. His smile was so pleasant that the boy wanted to see it again, so he offered him a root beer.
Again, the man smiled at him. The boy was delighted! They sat there all afternoon eating and smiling, but they never said a word.
As it grew dark, the boy realized how tired he was and he got up to leave, but before he had gone more than a few steps, he turned around, ran back to the man, and gave him a hug. The man gave him his biggest smile ever.
When the boy opened the door to his own house a short time later, his mother was surprised by the look of joy on his face. She asked him, "What did you do today that made you so happy?

"He replied, "I had lunch with God." But before his mother could respond, he added, "You know what? God's got the most beautiful smile I've ever seen!"

Meanwhile, the elderly man, also radiant with joy, returned to his home. His son was stunned by the look of peace on his face and he asked," Dad, what did you do today that made you so happy?"
He replied, "I ate Twinkies in the park with God." However, before his son responded, he added," You know, he's much younger than I expected."

Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile, a kind word, a listening ear, an honest compliment, or the smallest act of caring, all of which have the potential to turn a life around. People come into our lives for a reason, a season, or a lifetime. Embrace all equally!

Please, register to vote!

No matter where you are from, I hope you will vote in both the primaries and then the election this fall.

If you're from Massachusetts, please note, you must register to vote by January 16th in order to vote in the primary this February. And don't use the "I'm an Independent" excuse in this state - if you're registered as an Independent, no matter which party you choose to support for the primary, you will automatically be returned to independent status!

So, please, register this week and get out and vote in the primary next month.

Peace.

Rabbits and Lavender

Well, a friend and I were speaking the other evening about midnight following new year's eve and she mentioned she was first to say "rabbit rabbit". I had never heard of this custom so she elaborated a bit that the old custom was to say this the first of the month to ensure good luck for the rest of the month. So I went searching the wonderful Internet and found some sites where this is discussed:
Wikipedia has this to say: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rabbit_rabbit
Then there's harrumph! : http://www.harrumph.com/rabbit/
So many here I didn't have time to read them: http://www.dendritics.com/scales/white-rabbits.asp
I suggest you "Google" it yourself as there were many more places to read about this. Amazing!

So, the original conversation turned to other talk of rabbits. I mentioned the "rabbit in the moon", and in particular that Aztec Two-Step performs a song about this. It seems the Aztec people see a rabbit in the full moon (check it out on the 22nd, look for the rabbit to be upside-down.) I had to go looking for the song as it is one of my favorites. You can hear it here: http://groups.imeem.com/fCW2ERMD/music/oOrZPhYY/the_rabbit_in_the_moon/
Then we got on to other phrases, and in particular the one about being "laid out in lavender" and what it means. My friend's husband had never even heard of this phrase. During his Internet search, it seems it has meant both good and bad things over the years.

My take, and my friend's, was that someone was being criticized or berated, but it appears this is the least used meaning. Here's one site with it's definitions: http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/222725.html

I hope I've enlightened you, at least a little bit. Stay tuned for future updates. And please, feel free to comment on all of this if you are so inclined.

Peace,
Judi

~*~*~HAPPY NEW YEAR~*~*~

Welcome to 2008!

While reviewing one of my new calendars this morning I noticed that we will not have a "blue moon" this year. There are only 12 full moons and each one is in a different month. The Cold Moon will be on January 22nd at 8:35 AM.

Mercury will go retrograde three times, so be prepared for potential communication problems 1/28-2/18, 5/26-6/19, and 9/24-10/15.

My systa and I went to Maine yesterday. We had a chance to view a very recent snowfall and how it clung to trees, shrubs, and structures. We both snapped lots of photos. See above for one of mine taken at the York Information Center Rest Stop.

Enjoy 2008; may peace, prosperity, and love be yours!
