Sometimes it just happens that you luck out. I noticed a gila monster on my back wall, so went to get my camera.
When I returned, the creature was heading for cover under the pyracantha because this hawk, and two others, had started flying around looking for lunch. So instead of the venomous lizard, the hawk was the capture of the day.
I did get a shot of the lizard, hiding in the shrubbery; I'll see what I can do with that later.
